What makes an IMH person different from a regular child therapist?
Well, there are probably going to be a lot of similarities, and then a few key differences. Generally, “child therapists” are working on behaviors that are challenging for the child or their caregivers, and the way we would approach these challenges will look quite similar. There is a lot of play and silliness involved in work with a child! The IMH individual will also be taking into account how this caregiver is parenting, how caregiver was parented as a child, what their expectations are in this role, and how their current mental health is (because parenting is HARD)
